- Chapter One -
Who am I?

Me, with Smurf

I am a young man, born in the afternoon of the seventh day of April in the year nineteen hundred and eighty-four, who is currently seventeen and three-quarters of a year old. I am somewhat of a shy and self-conscious fellow, although I know I should not be. I don't talk much for fear of what may be thought of me, but because of that few people do think of me and know only who I am rather than knowing me. I have a number of friends but don't make many new ones. Typically, I can speak freely with those who are my friends, yet have a difficult time talking with those I do not know. I am getting better at not caring what others think of me, but still have a hard time thinking of things to say during a conversation.

I met most of my friends through Boy Scouts and my church youth group. I had joined a Cub Scout pack while living in Decatur, Illinois and when I moved to Lafayette, Indiana, I joined the pack at Mintonye Elementary School. Most of the other friends I have made at school were people who moved to Lafayette and joined the Boy Scout troop, or people that I sat near in class who had similar interests. I first met Conrad in the first semester of English during my sophomore year. He is also a computer person like me, but he wants to go in to business law after college. Luke and Jonathan I met when I joined Cub Scouts at Mintonye, and Matt and Jasin both moved to Lafayette my sixth grade year. They are all good friends of mine along with Jordan and Phil, whom I know from church.

Back of my house
I currently live in Lafayette, Indiana about two miles west of Eli Lilly and Company on a small lane. My house is two stories tall, but the bottom level is halfway under ground. In my yard there are some pine trees and a few maple trees. There is a pasture behind the house in which my mom's horse roams. In the horse's water tank my sister's fish lives; it is a very large gold fish. I have six outdoor cats. Four other kittens were born this year, but they were given to my sister and her now ex-boyfriend.

Later in life, I would like to be rich and retire at the age of thirty-five. I realize this is very unlikely, but I'll try my best at it. I plan on attempting this by being a computer programmer and investing my money wisely. I am going to go to Purdue University to lean much of what I'll need, but I'll also learn many things outside of college. I would like to eventually create an operating system superior to Microsoft Windows, but I know this is nearly an impossible feat for a single programmer.

Though my personality may be distinctive to those who know me, I would not be the person I am today without all the ancestors I have or the siblings I grew up with.
