- Chapter Eleven - Let's Go to the Movies |
|
I never have been able to watch many movies during my lifetime, but many of the ones I have seen were really good. Back when I was a little kid, I remember that my first favorite movie was Bambi. I don't know what I liked so much about it, but I had to see it at least once a month or so. Maybe it was all the animals and stuff, or maybe just Thumper. He, for some reason, sticks out as my favorite character, even though I haven't seen the movie in many years. I don't really know what the point of the movie was, but I think it ended sadly or at least there was a forest fire somewhere near the end. I then graduated to Oliver and Company. I think I liked this movie mostly because I like cats, and the main character, Oliver, is a cat. I even have a stuffed Oliver cat in my room. I actually saw part of this on television not too long ago; I only got to see the last twenty-five minutes or so, though. As a child of not more than maybe eight years old, I remember watching many horror films with my siblings, but later on, they "wisened" up and wouldn't let me watch them anymore since I was "too young." I didn't really like horror movies anyway, since they scared me at the time, and I haven't even seen one since then except for some of the stupid ones that are on the Sci-Fi channel during the night-I saw these while staying at my sister's and now ex-boyfriend's old house, since I do not have cable at home. Some of the movies I saw when I was younger were those stupid Chucky movies, Freddie Cougar movies, Hell Raiser movies, and probably various others that I don't remember.
![]() Matt Arnett Although I haven't seen the Back to the Future movies in a long while, they are also a favorite of mine. I don't think I have seen a single one all of the way through yet, though. Of the parts I have seen there was too much time between each viewing for me to get a grasp of the entire plot. I ought to buy the set and find some free time to watch them. Over the four years I've been in high school, I think I've only seen four or five movies at the theater. I recently saw Monsters, Inc., which was a very good movie. Before that I saw Shrek, also a prodigious movie. Prior to that, I saw How the Grinch Stole Christmas with my friend Allen Bol, though it was not the best Christmas movie, it was good enough for me. Before that, possibly the first movie I saw during high school, was Star Wars: Episode 1. I only saw it once, so I remember few details of it; I have a hard time remembering what goes on in a movie if I have not seen it more than once. While I have only seen a small selection of the many films created over the years, I believe I have seen a group that is of a high quality. I actually wish I could have seen more movies, but my mother seems to want to shield me from the world or something-she doesn't even like me watching PG-13 movies. Movies have not influenced my life to any effect, but scouting has been an important part of my life since I was eight years old and has brought many good things to my life. |
